Prerequisites:

  • must have a basic knowledge of the following wraps and climbs: hip key, thigh hitch, and russian climb
  • must be comfortable inverting in the air and performing locked front dives
  • strong wheel down is a plus.

Come get funky in this jam-packed workshop with some brainy choreography.

If you like sneaky transitions and curious shapes this is for you! We will be
working our way through some cheeky pathways leading into positions that can be restful and easily explored. The goal is to give you the bones of the choreography and show you some moments in which you can explore after the fact to truly make it your own!

Funky Fabric Flow: Saturday ~ 2/9/19 ~ 9:30-11:30am

Prerequisites:

  • must be able to tuck under and pull over to mount a very high sling
  • must be able to do a shoulder hang in the sling without your feet touching the mat
  • must also be comfortable in a knee hang in the sling and a double crochet.

Aerial sling is one of the most fun apparatus to flow on, and doing so with tempo adds a new level of excitement to the craft. In this workshop you will learn to spin from the ground as well as from the air in a variety of styles and positions. We will also use momentum for fundamental skills such as mounting and climbing over hox into hip key.

We will also be learning a variety of different beats from a shoulder hang that can be used to transition into inversions or pathways such as elbow circles, however if you also do vertical apparatus they are the foundation you will need to have killer beats on rope and silks.

Circum: Infinity Circles (rope/fabric) ~ Sunday 2/10/19 ~ 3:00-5:00pm

Prerequisites:

  • must be able to comfortably and repeatedly invert in the air and have a basic understanding of fundamental locks such as hip key, thigh hitch, and s-wrap.

Students will work on creating a circle of choreo in which the starting and ending position is the same. Whether they involve a climb or a rotation you can repeat them over and over as a drill or a poignant part of an act. The aim of an infinity circle is to move above, around, and under a familiar wrap to develop pathways and transitions. In this workshop we will work through a set of sequences that go in a circle that as play a game in which we develop a new circle.
